How to Adjust Photon HolstersUpdated 4 months ago
Photon Holsters can be worn inside the waistband or outside the waistband and have adjustable cant and ride height options as well as retention adjustments. This article will have detailed instructions on making the adjustments for each configuration.
The .25" screws are used to attach either the OWB Paddle Attachment or the IWB Clip to the holster shell. Only 2 are required but additional screws are included. The .375" screws are used for use with the IWB Clip and Claw. An additional square weld nut, retention screw and replacement spacers are also included in the parts pack.
When assembling the desired configuration, ensure the square weld nut is fully seated into the recess of the holster shell otherwise the screw will not thread properly. Using longer screws than what is needed for the desired configuration will mean that the tip or point of the screw will thread past the weld nut, which will scratch the firearm when holstered.
The included screws are pre-thread locked but it is important to inspect and maintain your gear to ensure the screws remain tight and the holster is in good working order. Periodic cleaning of the holster will also help with holster burn over time.
You can configure this holster to be an IWB (Inside the Waist Band) or AIWB (Appendix Inside the Waist Band) or cross draw by simply selecting the IWB holster clip and the draw hand you are going to use. Once this choice has been made, you will then choose the cant and ride height you need for your perfect holstering and drawing experience with your Photon Holster. Below are some illustrations that may help make various adjustments.

If you are in need of a deeper concealment or you are worried about printing, we also offer a claw that can be attached behind the IWB clip so that the grip of your pistol will be pushed closer to the body by the pressure the claw initiates against your belt.
If you choose to carry an extra magazine, we offer a Photon Mag Carrier than can be carried independently on your waistband using a clip or attached to your Photon holster using our sidecar attachment. To install the sidecar attachment, you will need to unscrew one side of the magazine carrier (side to be unscrewed varies on draw hand being used) and slide the sidecar attachment in between the black spacers and the magazine carrier shell before reinserting the screws.
After inserting and securing the sidecar attachment into place on the magazine carrier, you will then want to match the opposing side of the sidecar to the two open screw holes on the slide side of the Photon holster. Once you have done this, you will need to use the two 3/8” screws provided and install them into the mag carrier. To attach the sidecar to the holster you will need two ¼” screws and two weld nuts provided.
The Photon holster can also be configured into OWB (Outside the Waistband) by removing the IWB clip and then installing the OWB paddle attachment. The paddle attachment allows for the customer to comfortably and safely carry outside the waistband by sliding the paddle over your belt. The paddle locks the belt into place using a molded tooth on the inside of the paddle attachment.
You can adjust the cant of the paddle attachment by aligning the three holes on the paddle to the corresponding holes on the Photon shell and fastening with the provided hardware.
The Photon holster is an ambidextrous holster whether you are carrying IWB, AIWB, cross draw, or OWB. In order to switch the draw hand of your holster you will need to remove the screws from your IWB clip or OWB paddle and remove the Alien Gear Holsters face plate (if present) from the opposing side then switch these two components to the other side of the holster shell that they were once attached to.
